What is an AI-first developer?
An AI-first developer is an engineer who uses AI tooling throughout the build, not as a gimmick, but to remove the slow and repetitive parts of writing software. The result is faster delivery with the same clean, tested code. You still get a real product built by a real engineer. You just get it sooner.
Let me be clear about what this is and is not.
What AI-first is not
It is not “the AI writes your app and nobody checks it.” Code that ships without human judgment is how you get security holes and bugs that surface in front of your users.
It is not a way to skip planning, testing, or good architecture. Those still matter, and I still do them.
It is not magic. Hard problems are still hard. AI-first makes the ordinary parts fast, which leaves more time for the parts that need real thought.
What AI-first actually means in practice
Faster scaffolding. Setting up projects, boilerplate, and repetitive code goes quickly, so we get to the real work sooner.
Faster iteration. Small changes and refactors happen fast, which means more working demos per week.
More time on the hard parts. The time saved on routine work goes into the product decisions and the tricky features that actually make or break your idea.
Why it matters for your MVP
